Tickets go on sale February 15th, 2024 @ 12.37 pm

A tad under seven months ahead of the basketball extravaganza in Ljubljana, showcasing the farewell game of the legendary captain Goran Dragić – Night of the Dragon (centered around the All-Star game set for Saturday, August 24th), the organizers have unveiled the details on the commencement of ticket sales and their pricing, a collaborative effort of the Eventim and Petrol Tickets platforms.

Tickets go on sale on Thursday, February 15th at exactly 12:37 pm. Curious about the unconventional timing? It’s imbued with symbolism; for most of his career in the NBA and the national team, Goran sported jerseys bearing the numbers 1 (Phoenix Suns), 2 (Phoenix Suns), 3 (Houston Rockets, the national team), and 7 (Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors).

In the initial phase, around 10.000 tickets, divided into four tiers, will be available for purchase. Prices for seats closer to the court (green ring) will range from 75 to 89 euro, while those in the more distant areas (red ring) will be priced at 35 and 45 euro.

The ticket sales proceeds will be channeled towards philanthropic initiatives. Specifically, the event organizers are set to contribute to the “Botrstvo v športu” project, operating under the auspices of Slovenian Association of Friends of Youth Ljubljana Moste-Polj, and to the Goran Dragić Foundation.

“In Goran’s philanthropic year, there will be plenty of opportunities to raise funds, spanning from sending text messages to exclusive events and numerous auctions. Alongside Goran, our co-organizers, sponsors, and partners, we aspire to rally and unite the entire nation of Slovenia under a noble cause, garnering financial support to be transparently allocated to young athletes and groups facing various forms of underprivilege in collaboration with the Slovenian Association of Friends of Youth Ljubljana Moste-Polje. Many have already expressed interest in making additional donations, drawn to Goran Dragić’s remarkably positive persona and influential brand. We would like to extend a warm invitation to everyone to contribute through text messages,” said Matej Avanzo, the project leader, representing the collaborative efforts of Spontanzo, agencies Fabulatorij and Sport Media Focus, and the Goran Dragić Foundation.

Let’s highlight that the special hotline 1919 is up and running, managed by SAFY Ljubljana Moste-Polje. You can make a difference by sending a text with the keywords GOGI5 (€5 donation) or GOGI10 (€10 donation) to support the “Botrstvo v športu” project and the Goran Dragić Foundation.

Let’s remember, one of Slovenia’s all-time basketball greats and the MVP of EuroBasket 2017, steering the Slovenian national team to the European throne as the team captain, and the first Slovenian to play in the NBA All-Star Game, has decided to retire from his professional sports after nearly two decades, including a remarkable 15-year tenure in the NBA. His departure from professional basketball will be honored at a remarkable event in Ljubljana’s Stožice Arena in August. The event guest list includes the likes of many all-time greats such as Jimmy Butler, Luka Dončić, Steve Nash, Rašo Nesterović, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Beno Udrih, Nikola Jokić, Primož Brezec, Nikola Vučević, Jeff Hornacek, Boštjan Nachbar, Igor Kokoškov, Bogdan Bogdanović, Matjaž Smodiš, Steve Kerr, Sani Bečirović, Luis Scola, Miha Zupan, the entire 2017 Slovenian national team, and numerous other basketball greats from across the globe.

In response to the overwhelming interest in the August spectacle, the official ticket seller – Eventim, will implement a system akin to those employed in major global events. This system guides online ticket sales through a virtual waiting room. An operations specialist at Eventim explained, “To purchase tickets through the computer system, the users who wish to buy tickets for a specific event are being placed in a virtual queue. Their position is determined based on their time of registration or their click on the event and the ticket purchase, respectively. As a user initiates the purchase process, the system enrolls them in the queue. Once the queue has been cleared, the user proceeds to the purchasing process, where ticket prices are displayed. This system ensures a fair and organized allocation of limited resources, minimizing the risk of system overload.”
